Malternative Belgium Cognac #19 La Patine (1928)

This cognac was made by an undisclosed producer (bouilleur de cru) from Juillac-le-Coq from Ugni Blanc grapes in Grande Champagne (Cognac), France.

Aged in French oak casks for 89 years, it was transferred to Dame Jeannes (glass) in late 2018 before finally being bottled by Malternative Belgium at cask strength at 40.2% . An Alambic Charentais (Pot Still) was used for the distillation.

Pieter from Malternative Belgium writes about this cognac: " For us, this cognac is the result of a beautiful search, a passion for making contacts with respect for culture and family history. This find at a small producer and distiller (Bouilleur de Cru) makes us very happy, a realization of days of dedication and several trips.At the request of the producer's family, we cannot give the name of the cognac house, but we respect it.

This cognac was distilled in 1928 and was bottled by Dame Jeanne (in glass) at the end of 2018 - almost 90 years old!

This 1928 vintage cognac represents finesse and sophistication. Subtle flavors and a complexity that can only be achieved by allowing time to pass. This cognac was timely removed from the barrel and divided into dame jeannes that are kept in the buildings of the ORECO (Organization Économique Cognac) to guarantee the vintage. The balance between ripe and fermented white fruits, rancio, tobacco sticks and mint is fantastic! So old and yet so alive. The gourmand character and its complexity underscore its mark on history. History, that's what you get in your glass.
