Dieser Armagnac wurde 1972 von Château de Gaube aus Baco Trauben in Bas Armagnac, Frankreich hergestellt.

Er reifte für 50 Jahre in einem Eichenfass und wurde 2023 für Armagnac Sponge in Fassstärke mit 44.4% abgefüllt. Für die Destillation wurde eine Alambic Armagnacais (Column Still) verwendet.

Sponge schreibt zu diesem Armagnac: "A beautiful single cask of 1972 50 year old Armagnac from Chateau de Gaube. This was the sibling cask to our Armagnac Sponge Edition 2 bottling and also the last of these casks in Grosperrin’s cellars. We just adore this parcel of casks and felt we would have been quite mad not to bottle it.

This is our seventh bottling of Notable Age Statements and it contains a 1972 single cask of Bas Armagnac from Chateau De Gaube, bottled at natural cask strength and 50 years of age.

This is the sibling cask to our Armagnac Sponge Edition 2 and also the last of these casks in Grosperrin’s cellars. We are in love with this Armagnac, stunningly fresh, vibrant, fruity and still showing amazing potency and richness after so many years in wood. Expect an avalanche of ripe and dried fruits of many shades and variety, along with a whole beehive of honey and a big sloppy smooch of rancio!
